Still in Desert Hot Springs CA

Yes, we are still at Desert SPA RV Park in Desert Hot Springs. We signed for another month. It’s a small park, no golf, no scheduled activities; (unless you count what are generated by the guests) it’s an old park. Some live here all year around, some live and work in the area and some keep lots and RV here for winter only. A mixture of people. About half are Canadians. Very friendly and most guests have small dogs. Rabbits run around in the evening. Korkie likes that. He knows he could catch one if he could get out and off his leash. We have become regulars here.
I thought we had found “Endless Summer” here at Desert Hot Springs. High in the 70’s. Clear dry desert air. And the pool and spa have natural magic healing waters. A good walk in the desert in the AM, some lunch then a couple of hours in the pool and spa. That is “Pig’s heaven” for me at least. The pool is never crowded. The serious “Lap Swimmers” go early in the morning. Then the little ladies, mostly in their 80,s and one 90 year old come in around 11:00. If you want to know what is going on in the park, that is your time slot at the pool! I try for about 3:00. Seems like a different group every night. Then late at night there is another group. I have never been out that late so cannot tell you who they are. The pool and spa are open 24 hours every day.
We are both into reading books. Bob is into History. So for Christmas Rick sent him a “Tri Corn” hat which was popular during the revolution war in the US. Bob wears the hat during his 2 or 3 Korkie walks around the park. If you have questions, please direct them to Bob. I read fun fiction and mysteries and am trying to get into non- fiction. On Wednesday at noon, there is a Texas Holdem poker game in the club house. Bob is enjoying that.
We had endless summer here until last Monday. Then the rain hit us. In the morning the sun is out and sky is blue. It then clouds over and in the afternoon it rains, a lot. Sometimes we have heavy winds. The RV rocks and rolls. It’s kinda fun. It is supposed to clear up this week end. It’s good to know that the CA drought and the global warming is over! The rain does not seep into the sand so this whole area has washes for the excess water. Per the weather man, they have not had the rain and storms like this for 50 years! Per the news in the evening, quite a few main streets have been flooded.
Saturday we are going to see Bobby Vinton, who is playing at one of the casinos. Now everyone reading this knows who Bobby Vinton is? Never mind. I am looking forward to it.
Last week we went to the “Living Desert.” A neat place. Displays of animals and different types of deserts. At the end is a very large miniature train set up. It covers over ½ acre and has all kinds of settings of America in it including high trusses with train wrecks in the canyons, soft music in the different settings and the trains are running all the time. It takes a long time to see the total display. Bob and I go at different paces, so we spit up and did our own thing. After we got home, we realized we had seen different parts of it. Maybe we need another visit.
We have extended our stay until middle of March. We do have some idea’s on where to go next. We are planning on going back to Pleasanton for a couple of weeks before we set off across the country.
We have become friends with Roy and Lupe who are from Tracy. This is their 2nd year here and just bought their second 5th wheeler to keep here and use their smaller one to travel with. On nice evenings, Roy puts up a flag which means “Happy Hour” and to come on over. We are planning on coming down next year for the winter. The evenings are still chilly but the days are warm and beautiful!
The Bobby Vinton show was wonderful! Besides being a singer, he plays many instruments. It was great show and we enjoyed it.
You are asking why it has taken me so long to write this? Well, between lovely desert walks, pool/spa time, reading and Happy Hour, I really do not have any free time. The days are so short and time is going so fast. Yes, I really am getting totally spoiled.
